These guys are absolutely stunning. This drawing is based off a photo that I took at Disney's Animal Kingdom. I love the way the red plays against the greens, especially on the patch on the cheek.
More than that, though, these guys are endangered. Current estimates put the total wild population at 1,000 birds or less. They're losing their native habitat in Bolivia as it is bulldozed for agriculture or over-grazed by cattle. While they are not uncommon as pets, that status hasn't helped their wild counterparts, who still face some trapping due to the illegal pet trade. Thankfully, that risk has dropped in recent years as more protections are created. In any case, it would be a huge loss to see these beautiful birds disappear from the wild all together...

Criticizing? I LOVE to criticize! Of course, on amazing art like this, There isn't much to say. I want to make that clear. I can find fault in things, but the art itself is often absolutely amazing. I'm not very good at colored pencil, so I won't say things about how it was applied. Of course, I'm not qualified to! So sorry about that rambling, I just wanted to get my view clear. First of all, I like your feather detail! You really made it clear the feathers were individual. Just don't make them too shaded, maybe make them more as a whole. When you look at a bird, you don't see individual feathers that clearly. Also, some places have feather detail, and some don't. Maybe spread the details out more. The wing looks a bit messy, again, try not to make the individual feathers stand out so much. Also, the belly looks a bit too big. If that is fluff, try to make it more feathery and less solid. Lastly, I think the head is a bit big in proportion to the body. Sorry if you don't think a twelve year old is qualified to criticize. I feel a bit bad about it, too.
